Jaime F. Pinto III, CDT, MS
I am a 3rd generation dental lab technician. I grew up at a young age seeing my grandfather fabricating partial frameworks in his small laboratory above an auto mechanic shop on Broadway Avenue in NYC. It fascinated me. My father took on dental technician work in NYC as well where he worked for a large dental laboratory as the partial department manager until moving to Houston, TX in the early 1980’s. My father opened a small laboratory and received his CDT and worked continually for over 35 years at the bench. Growing up, I was always around the dental laboratory doing small tasks at first then learning all the steps from start to finish. I was very fortunate to learn from a master complete & partial denture technician. He was tough and always expected the very best quality.
I received my Associates Degree at Pasadena City College in California in Dental Laboratory Technology. After, completing the Dental Laboratory program I stayed in the Los Angles area and worked at a few different dental laboratories. I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of creating a perfect dental restoration which will transform a patient’s life.
I stepped away from the dental laboratory industry for sometime in the early 2000’s to work in the Information Technology industry. I went back to school and received a Master of Science from New York University in Computer Science. I worked 10+ years in the Tri-State area perusing different Information Technology roles at top Fortune 500 companies.
I moved back to Houston in 2016. My father talked about retiring and at that time I decided to try the Dental Laboratory industry out once again on my own. I earned a Certification in Dental Technology (CDT #244287) in October 2018 and opened Removable Prosthetics for Dentistry laboratory which is a Texas Registered Dental Laboratory (#3684).
I am back to enjoying the challenges of fabricating a perfect dental restoration which changes people’s lives by transforming their smile!
